Ravis 2002
Greeker is a simple script that provides meaningless
filler text, also known as "greeking" text, for use in design mockups.
Why?
Designers do this for page layout because if we put in actual text, the client
(when we show them the prototype) will begin checking and correcting the text
instead of evaluating the design of the page. Basic human instinct. So we place
filler text instead, that looks like English, but isn't. The brain doesn't
see words, and so doesn't try to read it, and instead the design pops out and
becomes the primary focus of their attention (which was the whole purpose).
About
I built this script because it's so hard to find greeking text on the web. Or
at least hard for me to find. It's not perfect, and I would like to improve
it so it looks more English-like, but for now it works.
How To...
Enter the number of characters you would like to generate (max 20,000) and hit
"Generate". You may get a little more than you asked for because the
script always finishes it's sentences (as they are).
